On this sunny day, let’s move outside.” The moment he arrived at the venue, President Li offered to talk on the grass. Addressing a student’s concern about frequent inner conflicts, Li emphasized the importance of anchoring oneself to a direction for learning and setting clear goals by offering vivid examples. He pointed out that every hour dedicated to work brings us closer to achieving our ultimate goal, which indicates that people need to lay foundation for ultimate goals. He said, after setting a goal, one began a journey of allocating resources and elements to reach that goal, thus steering clear of such psychological turmoil. He encouraged students to frequently introspect in the context, fostering distinctive qualities, finding their “foothold” in the tide of the time.

In responding to “Is returning to the hometown for employment a good choice?”, Li encouraged students to follow relevant policies to root themselves at the community level for hometown development. He stated whether you are a student or a graduate, the university will always be your rock as you realize your self-worth, as the university always adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talents. He stressed, “Do not go it alone, and never forget your university.” A doctoral student mentioned that he was facing a dilemma - whether to base choice on personal interest or research field when deciding on career path? Li believed that in today’s highly diversified and inclusive society, there is not just one path for individuals to realize their self-value. If the goal is clear, just take the first step to achieve the dream. He earnestly encouraged students to strive for their interests and dreams in life, to pursue postgraduate studies with the purpose of interest, continually improving their innovation and research capabilities, and to avoid “pursuing postgraduate studies” solely for a diploma, especially to “be cautious in choosing goals and not take others’ goals as the norm.”

In response to discussions about “super-entrapped major” online, Li underscored the importance of discerning information and establishing a critical mindset when searching information. He remarked that every major is staying updated, in tune with the times, and fulfilling the demands of economic and social growth. Regardless of the chosen major, he encouraged students to view their academic pursuits as opportunities for personal growth and skill development.

During the interactive session, Li chat with students on a wide range of topics, including minors, relationships, and the approval process for extracurricular activities. The enthusiastic and relaxed atmosphere in sharing fostered a closer connection between faculty members and students. In closing, Li shared three points with the students. Firstly, the journey of growth involves overcoming challenges and embracing opportunities for personal development. Through overcoming immense difficulties, people underwent a transformational growth. During this journey, the university and teachers played a crucial role in helping students overcome challenges. He encouraged all to ground themselves on campus, but to also have a global perspective and strive for constant growth through learning. Additionally, He also stressed the significance of identifying one’s academic interests and pursuing them actively in order to achieve personal career goals. Lastly, he advised students to cultivate a habit of physical exercise for lifelong benefits.
